Our flight wasn’t until early evening, so we decided to do a little more exploring. Since Mammoth Terraces is so close to the entrance we went back for a third time. The angle of the sun makes a huge difference to how everything looks. I’m happy that we got one more look at the park; both Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Park were magnificent.
On the way back to Bozeman we made a detour in the Livingston area to walk the Pine Creek trail. This was very much a “let’s see what AllTrails has on the way back” hike. That is, no planning, so the roughness of the unsealed one-track road at the end wasn’t ideal. The hike itself was pretty.
In Livingston we stopped for a bite at a food cart, then spent a while wandering at Livingston Depot Center, a train museum. It was an interesting place, heavy on illustrated material including drawings for the building itself and old promotional art for routes and destinations. Upstairs they an exhibit featuring newer artists and an interactive animal migration display.
We agreed that relaxing at the airport sounded better than trying to see anything else, so we returned our bear spray and checked in.
