After another scrumptious breakfast, we willed our legs along the 2.5 hour Taggart Lake and Bradley Lake Loop. This was a popular trail. There were a couple of groups of older women having a great time, and many people relaxing by the lake. While these lakes do allow swimming, they remain very cold. Most watery areas in Yellowstone prohibit entry as the risk of hypothermia is too high. The hike was mostly forested with some lakeside trekking, but it lacked the sweeping vistas of the day before.
For lunch, The National Museum of Wildlife Art had delicious, fresh food, and fun sculptures to look to outside. I hear the museum part is good too, but it wasn’t the right day for it.
We headed back to Jackson, where we mostly wandered, did a little scenic driving, and re-stocked groceries. An expected highlight was the 6pm “shootout” at the town square. Actors from the local playhouse put on a small show complete with singing, over-the-top personalities, and fake gunshots. They perform it nearly every evening (!) in the summer.
Our final scenic drive along Moose-Wilson road did not result in any moose sightings. Funnily, there were a number of residences that put up moose silhouettes. Perhaps since the road was paved a few years ago they also miss the moose!
